A Child Of The Night
An exclusive Paranormal Fantasy Flash Fiction Story written for you!
Before I get to the story, I want to say sorry about last week. I had a little mishap trying to cross-post my Macabre Monday interview, and you may have gotten it twice. I didn’t get it at all. They changed some code with cross-posting, so I imagine there’s some bugs to work out.

I always knew I was a child of the night. Day time held too much noise. The light burned my sensitive eyes. The constant noise gave me splintering headaches. There were too many people. But once the moon rose, a calm would fill me. I could finally think clearly. I wasn’t bombarded with sensation. It was peaceful and quiet.
I could be me.
So, of course, I jumped at the chance of joining the undead when they came calling. They knew my intentions weren’t driven by a Hollywood trend. I was not seeking immortality out of selfish reasons. No, I wanted what they offered solely because it would unlock the real me. My true self.
But if I’m honest to myself—brutally so—then I can’t deny the other perks being undead brings. Money for one. I will never want in that. Sex. Oh, boy. I better not go into the details or you might blush. And of course, death. There’s nothing quite as satisfying as seeing the light go out in their eyes, to know I am the cause of their end. And there’s nothing they can do about it.
I am a child of the night. Fear me.
