We live in a world that is constantly ramming down our throats to do all the things, especially if it's something labeled as "productive" and I've been having a rebellious feeling against it and really wanting to just enjoy something for the sake of experiencing it.
I did the same for the Hunger Games. My hubby has learned not to pressure me to check something out because I'll double down and refuse not to even more.

These are all new myths to me. I love the interesting cross that would make up a sea panther. As a fantasy reader, that just sounds cool to me. A mer-panther?

Funny story cuz the picture reminded me - so we live on Lake Michigan, have a semi private beach. I was out one morning, waiting for the sunrise and a drone flew by. Little bugger hovered over me and I made a face and flipped it off. π
I don't think the person operating it was expecting that. It dashed off quickly. π

I mention The Lake Bellaire Plaid Sock Monster in my novel Radio Red ... maybe it moved there up the Grass River from Torch Lake? (Of course, one of my characters made it up on the fly, so probably not.)

I can only imagine how that would look! It's an off the cuff joke by a main character:
His hazel eyes twinkling, he turned back to the crowd and began telling an outlandish story of the βLake Bellaire Plaid Sock Monster,β which came ashore at night to prowl in search of mismatched argyles.
Later he turns it into an entire radio play, because if you get a good idea, why not embellish?
If I ever draw it, I'll be sure to show you. I can't make any promises as my brain likes to decide once something is an obligation then it doesn't want to do it.

I love Torch Lake! I grew up nearby! I have been out on the lake quite a bit, and unfortunately have never seen this creature. Michigan does have a ton of cryptids. We have tons of very deep lakes and vast forests.
Thanks for the shout out! And for reminding people that just reading is ok too! Everyone is welcome... we scare more people that wayπ»
You're welcome.

Iβm the same way. Iβve still never seen Titanic, just because everyone was like βyou HAVE to see Titanic.β

A mer-pather sounds fun and like there is some story there.

LOL! Whoever was piloting it was asking for it!

I love that name for your monster. Makes me want to draw it. I'll have to make myself a note.

I've been there!
Nice. I kinda want to make a trip there some time next year.
Never heard of this one, but very interesting! Seems like lots of bodies of water have at least one monster hiding in it, haha
I know. I could dedicate a year to just covering the lake monsters in Michigan.

That's cool. I definitely want to make a visit to Torch Lake now.
It's so worth it. One of the most beautiful lakes in the world.
