Um.. I want to try making the sands sing! Also, the image of smoke rolling off of blueberry bogs sounds really beautiful for some reason.

I've been on several sand dunes in the West that "sing"--when the conditions are exactly right sliding sand sets up an amazing harmonic resonance. It's beyond cool :)

Ok, now I’m upset that I used to live in the Upper Peninsula and camp in the Keweenaw every summer, and no one told me about this legend until now! This is the kind of stuff that I love!

That’s very cool. I’m going to insist we visit Bete Grite next time we go up there now.

I am interested in the Legend of Bete Grite and would like to write a short story around it. Do you know if the native american tribe story is written any where? So far my searching not finding any native American resources. Also do you know what tribe the story is from? David
