The Melon Heads is a good one that I've heard a few times. It made its way over to the southeast side for a time when an asylum was being knocked down near us, but no children were at that ward. It's so interesting how these legends travel.
There must be a bit of fact that kicks off urban legends. I think it's like the game Telephone. By the time the whispered messages reach the end of the circle, it is quite different from the original. This one was wonderfully creepy.
I've been finding that to be the case with a lot of urban legends. It's interesting to find the bits of truth and how it blends with the fictional parts.

I can't say it's made it's way to the UP much, which is surprising as we got lots of trees and I remember when all the asylums were shut down up here.

I like the melon head legend, it’s so weird. I had never heard the preppy kid theory. That’s honestly hilarious😂
There’s a few other legends that are weird like this in Michigan, and I love them and can’t wait to share them.
I’m very excited to hear them! Well read them I guess 😂
Creepy! I love local legends. I'm thousands of miles east of you so keep them coming. I've heard none of them!
Will do! =)
Scary kids bent on revenge is a great scary movie concept. These kids would have better motivation than the Children of the Corn had.
The melon head kids would be a great horror movie monster.
