My husband had a friend who lived in Ludington, but we never got a chance to go visit. I'm always down in the Grand Rapids area due to family so maybe one day we'll make a detour.

Fascinating. I remember watching a documentary earlier this year on discovery or history channel about a massive ship going missing in a storm in lake superior

That's probably the Edmund Fitzgerald. Anyone who lives in Michigan knows that story by heart and it's the most famous shipwreck of Lake Superior.
