The one harbinger I know about is the Grey Man of Pawley's Island. If he's seen walking along the beach, that means there is about to be a terrible hurricane. I believe he was seen before Hurricane Hugo, which was an incredibly devastating storm. And I want to think he was seen more recently but I can't recall which storm. It might have been Hurricane Matthew.
If I ever get down the festival they have, I'll have to go there. I'm not a beer drinker, but hubby is and breweries tend to have good food along with their beer.
Who are you most excited to see at the Con?
Who my booth neighbors will be and attendees ;) Since I'm a vendor, I don't get to go to the talks.
Detroit has an evil spirit causing trouble? Another reason why it's a fascinating place.
I really want to go the event they hold in the spring. I think that would be so much fun.
I had never heard of the little critter. IN WV, have the Mothman as the harbinger of doom.
He's probably the most famous harbinger of doom.

I kind don't want to say cool as it feels a bit mean to say that to something that is a bad omen. LOL
I mean, we think it's cool, but we also have a weird attitude toward hurricanes in particular and life in general.
I kind of love this little guy and his sparking eye.
Also I have just decided that if I ever finish my novel, my pen name is going to be H.G. de la Mothe.
IF? Don't you mean when? =P
Oh right βwhenβ I finish it in ten yearsπ
As long as it gets finished. =P
Well now you HAVE to knit him. π
I have enough to knit already.
There was also a Nain Rouge Brewery in Detroit as well. Also I need a trip to Detroit. It's been too long.
