Nailed It (100 words)

Marco was a hard man. Not a magician, but he could make someone disappear. But his real specialty was rearranging them, as necessary to get the information he wanted. Confessions, location, other secrets requested by his unsavory bosses. Still, he appreciated the finer things. Vain as a cheer captain. Acted like it was bad luck to pass, not break, a mirror. Never missed his weekly mani-pedi. There it dawned on him the commonality he shared with their business, telling the confused nail tech, β€œWe are in similar trades, different branches of the ungual tree. You’re in decoration, I’m in extraction.”
