Poor kitty! Not sure I'd ever be so hungry as to eat one, esp. not a tuxedo cat (hubby and I had one).

Hopefully, we never get in a situation where we'd be faced with that choice. Although, I'd probably end up starving.

I probably would too. My family had a cat, now passed. I'm a softie, I could never.

Your story reminds me that the house I grew up in was built during the cold war. It had a bomb shelter -- with a cat door on it. Not sure how that was supposed to work!

Even back then they knew they couldn't control a cat enough to keep it inside during a war if it didn't want to be.
