Since we all know who Bigfoot is, I had a bit of an issue figuring out what to talk about in this post. Does anyone really need a lesson on who or what Bigfoot is? Maybe a young’un. Someone in their early teens who is just learning about cryptids. But for most of us, Bigfoot is a superstar of the cryptid world. He is well known. I wouldn’t be telling you anything new. But here are a few encounters with one being as recent as May of 2025!

MICHIGAN ENCOUNTERS

According to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization (BFRO) Michigan is in the top 10 places Bigfoot is often sighted. It makes sense. Michigan has a lot of wooded areas. Especially in the UP, where many of the reports happen.

January 30th 2021

A couple of coyote hunters saw a strange upright figure in Menominee County. It had glowing yellow eyes. At first, the hunters thought the eyes were something reflective put on a tree as they were so high. Then they realized something was behind the tree, peering around it. They had also heard wood knocking earlier but dismissed it. You can read the full report on BFRO’s website here.

February 22nd-24th 2022

This one takes place in Mackinac County not far from where my parents live in Curtis! The person said they heard wood knocking when they went outside at night to have a cigarette. They heard it three nights in a row. They also note that they aren’t sure if it was Bigfoot or Bigfoot researchers hoping to entice Bigfoot to communicate. While this one may be a bit lackluster, given my relationship to the area, I found it fascinating to think Bigfoot may be lurking in the woods behind my parents house.

May 18th 2025

Now for the freshest of encounters and this one the BFRO researchers certified as highly credible sighting.

It happened in Monroe County. A father and son were bow fishing when they heard rustling in a tree, followed by a loud thud. Next thing they knew, a big animal was headed toward them, but their dog cut it off. The creature then moved up a slope with their dog pursuing until the father called it back.

The creature ran on two legs and was hunched over. Even then, they said it looked over six feet tall! It was very hairy. The father told the media it was as big as a bear but looked like a gorilla.

WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE ENCOUNTERS i SHARED?

Sightings of Bigfoot are abundant, and while some may be faked or mistaken identity, many can’t be explained away as a bear or trees creaking. I’m not a 100% believer, but I do wonder with so many people having tales and some of the pictures and videos out there.
