Same. We live down a long driveway, which is nice, but also then means we are far off the main road and so I hear animals at night (deer, raccoons, owls, coyotes), but then there are the unexplained sounds... eek!
I can relate to your story! Reminds me of the time all my clothes started shaking on their hangers as I was getting dressed for work. It was an earthquake, but my first thought was: GHOSTS!
This reminds me of sleep paralysis. When your brain is awake but your body isnβt. People have all kinds of hallucinations during episodes and a lot of ghost/demon/alien stories end up being attributed to it.
Iβve only had it happen one time. I was in college and woke up before my alarm to this dark, heavy, humanoid presence laying on top of me. I couldnβt move or speak, I was absolutely terrified. I didnβt even brush my teeth before I left for class, I just wanted to get the fuck out of the apartment.
I learned about sleep paralysis later, after a bit of research, and was super relieved π Also very relieved itβs never happened again, even though the explanation is mundane, itβs still terrifying.
The difference here is I was fully awake! I just convinced myself aliens were gonna get me.
I've sorta had sleep paralysis, but I've never had something sitting on my chest. Instead, I'd half-wake and be unable to move my arms or legs. I couldn't keep my eyes open. I'd fall back asleep then dream I got up and moved around only to actually wake, still be unable to move and confused to why I hadn't actually moved. I was usually napping on the couch and it was tied to the exhaustion I had as a result of chronic pain, so it wasn't your usual sleep paralysis.
My doctor said I had one of the worst cases she ever saw. After the surgery, she told me she horrified by it, and since I was doped up on pain meds, I told her, "Go big or go home."
Heard a "Bang!" in the night. Hid under the covers. The next morning I saw the broom I had set against the wall now lying on the floor. Phew! Oh, and I vote for 2 Nessies in Michigan.
My brain has done stuff like that to me, but usually at night when I'm on my own... it's never fun to have an active imagination at times like those.
That's for sure! π¨
I can scare the pants off myself at night by letting my imagination run wild about what's hiding in the dark.

And, of course, those sounds are scary things! LOL

Well, to be fair, ghosts are much more fun.

Still sounds scary though! Hope things are better for you now βΊοΈ
I had surgery back in 2021 and that helped massively with the pain and exhaustion (Endometriosis is a bitch) and I haven't had any incidents since.
Glad to hear youβre doing well now! Iβve heard many stories of how awful endometriosis is.

Epic! I love that response!

I would total react the same. LOL And I wrote that post, too. https://twistingmyths.substack.com/p/michigan-going-above-and-beyond-with
