WHAT ARE WE DISCOVERING THIS MONTH?
I’m relaunching my books!
The Michigan Dogman. Is this Michigan cryptid real? Is he a good boy? (The answer to that last one is yes because all dogs are good puppers.)
The scavenger hunt is on!
Last year, I unpublished all my books. It was a bold and crazy move, but I was struggling with what I wanted out of my writing, and having them available was a distraction. Basically, I was trying to get my shit together. Not sure I have, but I figured enough out to feel confident that I have a plan and almost know what I’m doing.
THE MICHIGAN DOGMAN
Have you heard of him? He’s not quite as well known as Bigfoot or Nessie, but he is a cryptid who has been roaming Michigan for some time now. The first official sighting of this monster was in Wexford County, MI in 1887. Two lumberjacks said they saw a bipedal creature with a dog’s head.
The Michigan Dogman is a paranormal creature after my own heart in that he likes the number 7 and appears in ten-year cycles that end in 7. That means we won’t be due to see him until 2027. Way to make a girl wait! My landlord doesn’t allow dogs so I have to get my fix other ways.
You will mostly find the Michigan Dogman roaming the upper part of lower Michigan.
(Note, this is NOT the UP. Upper Lower Michigan is sometimes referred to as upper Michigan and seems to forget there is an entire peninsula that is part of Michigan and is the true upper Michigan.)
If you want to read more about the Michigan Dogman, LINDA S. GODFREY has the go-to books on this elusive cryptid. She sadly passed away recently.

Monster Hunting: The Michigan Dogman 🐶
The Dogman is new to me!
This one is new to me!
There are a few dogs in folklore and although I'm not from East Anglia, there is one said to roam the coastline in south east England called Black Shuck 🐾
