The other week, I re-released INFLUENCE OF LOVE, a sweet romance fantasy short story. I decided to add some chapters to it and rewrote a couple. If you’ve already gotten the book, you can get an updated version with the new chapters. If it’s a new to you book, then great news, it’s currently ZERO dollars on AMAZON and OTHER RETAILERS so you can read it now.

I’m also re-releasing BALANCE OF LOVE and REVELATION OF LOVE. And I’m working on TWO new stories in the series. I’m excited.

Image of Bigfoot with the words, “Weird Stories and Discoveries”. Proving why ghosts don't make good alarm clocks.

Ghosts make horrid paranormal alarm clocks and I can prove it.

I lived in a house that was over 100 years old. It creaked. It groaned. It had stories to tell. Despite this, I never heard any ghost stories about it. Nothing odd happened. Things didn’t move. The scariest thing was walking through the house in the dark after staying up until 2 am reading about serial killers. I am good at scaring myself!

But there is one incident that is not only terrifying but unexplained.

One morning I woke up and saw a man staring at me.

There was no body. Only a face floating at eye level.

I did the only reasonable thing any sane person would do and pulled the covers over my head. (I was a teenager, not a child when this happened.)

My heart pounded. I barely dared to breathe. Was he still there? Was I safe? It never occurred to me that the thin quilt my grandmother had made would not protect me from a stranger in my room.

Eventually, I plucked up my courage and looked.

Nothing was there. Whoever—whatever—had vanished.

To this day, I have no idea what that incident was. It never happened again (THANK GOD!) I’ve never seen a face that made me say, “That’s the dude!” I can’t even say it was a ghost. Maybe it was a time slip. A peek into another dimension. Maybe it was a dream bleeding into reality. I can’t say.

All I know is it was scary AF and I don’t recommend ghosts as alarm clocks.

Maybe that quilt offered all the protection of her love, like Harry Potter's mother's love did for him. I sometimes think it's the small, simple things that protect us.
