If you have been looking for ways to sneak some extra reading into your busy day then I have the perfect book for you.
A Quick Test is a collection of 45 science fiction tales about aliens, outer space, experiementation, and conspiracy theories.
Each tale is only 200 words meaning you can squeeze a story in just about anywhere!
Like when you’re in line at the grocery store.
Or waiting to pick up your kid from school.
At the doctor’s office…well…you can probably finish it with how long those waits can be. (Or is that just my doctors?)
Steal a moment here or there to dive into the pages for stories like this.
“ANYTHING CAN BE improved by adding Dracula.”
I cocked an eyebrow at Jacob then glanced at the small bunny on the table. Behind me, animals huddled in cages. They were silent, as if they hoped by being still, they wouldn’t be the next experiment. Their eyes haunted me when I went home. They hadn’t asked for this, and I wished I could explain how sorry I was that they had to endure this torture.
“You look skeptic.”
Jacob’s voice drew my attention back to him. I rolled my eyes. “It’s one thing to splice DNA of existing creatures but another to try to make a creature that doesn’t exist.” I pinned him with a glare. “Especially one that likes to feed on people.”
“It wouldn’t be exactly like a vampire.” Jacob’s lips quirked. “For one, undead is impossible.”
“Famous last words.”
“You’re paranoid.” Jacob pinned the bunny to the table. It squealed as he injected the serum into it. The tiny body convulsed then went still. Jacob and I leaned closer. After a moment, the nose twitched, and the bunny moved. Jacob beamed. “Success!” He reached for the bunny. It latched onto his wrist with razor-sharp teeth, and he screamed.
No matter how busy your day is, A Quick Test enables you to take a moment for yourself.
